CRUMB CATCHER Trailer: A Maniacal Inventor Overstays His Welcome in Cringe Horror Comedy

John Speredakos in CRUMC CATCHER

Writer-director Chris Skotchdopole puts a new spin on the home invasion thriller in his feature debut, Crumb Catcher. The film centers on a married couple whose newlywed bliss is interrupted when they are held captive in a remote lake house by a maniacally optimistic inventor and his sour wife who are desperate to finance his dream project… by any means necessary. It stars Rogo Garay, Ella Rae Peck, Lorraine Farris, and John Speredakos. Skotchdopole penned the script from a story by him, Garay, and cult horror icon Larry Fessenden – who also produces. Following its world premiere at last year’s Fantastic Fest, it is set to roll out in theaters July 19 from Doppelgänger Releasing, who have just dropped the official trailer.

Here’s the official  synopsis:

At a remote estate in upstate New York, newlyweds Leah (Ella Rae Peck) and Shane (Rigo Garay) celebrate their honeymoon, but a pall hangs over their union. She works for the publisher who will be releasing his debut novel, a lightly autobiographical examination of family trauma, alcoholism, and the immigrant experience. Barely suppressed tensions over family trauma would be enough kindling for a blowup, but Leah and Shane’s marriage is truly tested by the appearance of two weirdos with entrepreneurial zeal and a half-baked blackmail plot: John (John Speredakos) and Rose (Lorraine Farris). They’re looking for investors for John’s latest invention, a culinary breakthrough called the Crumb Catcher — and they won’t take no for an answer.
