LONGLEGS Trailer: Maika Monroe Is Haunted By Nicolas Cage in Oz Perkins’ Psychological Nightmare

Maika Monroe in Oz perkins' LONGLEGS

Modern-day scream queen Maika Monroe (It Follows, Watcher) is an FBI agent facing her dark past in the form of Nic Cage in probably the most anticipated horror flick of the summer. The duo stars in Longlegs from writer-director Oz Perkins, who recently helmed The Blackcoat’s Daughter and 2020’s Gerta and Hansel. The film centers on a series of occult murders that connect to Monroe’s FBI Agent’s past when a cold case is reopened. Blair Underwood and Alicia Witt also star. After many little teasers that have been dropped throughout this year, NEON has now released the official trailer ahead of its July 12 release.

Regarding the film, Cage himself said, “I play, I almost call him like a possessed Geppetto… he makes these dolls, and the dolls infiltrate families and get the families to do terrible things. It’s a horror film. And [Perkins] was, I think telling a story, in some ways, about his mother, and I played Longlegs as a very androgynous character, and I’m channeling my mom.”

Monroe is also set to reprise her It Follows role for David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming sequel They Follow, which NEON will also release. The distributor is also set to reunite with Perkins on his next film – an adaptation of Stephen King’s short story Bad Monkey starring Theo James.
