SACRAMENTO Trailer: Michael Cera & Michael Angarano Hit the Road in Indie Comedy

Michael Angarano is back in the director’s seat for his sophomore feature. Sacramento is a coming-of-age road trip comedy that stars Angarano and Michael Cera as old friends Rickey and Glenn who take an impromptu road trip to the titular city before Glenn’s pregnant wife (Kristen Stewart) is due to give birth. Angarano’s real-life partner Maya Erskine co-stars as an old love from Rickey’s past.
The film premiered at the 2024 Tribeca Film Festival to an enthusiastic critical and audience reception. Angarano co-wrote the film with Chris Smith. He previously directed the 2017 NYC-set film Avenues. Vertical Entertainment has now rolled out the official trailer ahead of the comedy’s release in theaters on April 11.
Here’s an official synopsis:
Following the death of his father, energetic and free-spirited Rickey (Michael Angarano) convinces long-time friend Glenn (Michael Cera) to go on an impromptu road trip from Los Angeles to Sacramento. Frustrated by Rickey’s Peter Pan complex, Glenn is encouraged by his pregnant wife Rosie (Kristen Stewart) to go on the adventure to reconnect. In the worn yellow seats of Glenn’s old college convertible, the two men confront their anxiety-ridden lives, addressing past mistakes and questioning what their futures hold.
